Review of Blended (2014) by Mike M — 12 Jul 2015
The "critics" blasted this film. But then they never really saw an Adam Sandler movie they couldn't hate. Most of the complaints I read were political correctness related nonsense. Was Blended a great film? By no means.
What it was was funny and sweet and very entertaining. The thing really selling Blended, though, is the easy, comfortable chemistry between Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. As in The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates, they are so good together it's hard to believe they aren't a couple in real life.
Sure, many of the familiar rom-com tropes and Sandler's particular brand of rogue humor are trotted out, but it works because Sandler/Barrymore works. And that alone makes it worth a couple hours of your time.
