Review of Blazing Saddles (1974) by Brian R — 22 Dec 2010
"What did you expect? "Welcome, sonny"? "Make yourself at home"? "Marry my daughter"? You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons.".
This film is as old as me and I've seen it a gazillion times, but it's still my favourite comedy film, from Frankie Laine's stirring rendition of the title song right through to the final scenes which descend into anarchy, it's an absolute hoot. I can always rely on Dom DeLuise demonstrating the "Throw up your hands, Stick out your tush, Hands on your hips, Give 'em a push" dance routine, to make me laugh like a loon.
