Review of Blast from the Past (1999) by Gail R — 22 May 2008
The story is actually quite compelling, though equally unbelievable. Still, (the innocence of youth, regardless of chronological age) the main character, played by Brendan Fraser, was a child of sorts. In spite of his parents heroic schooling and teaching, he remained a social adolescent.
Truly remarkable was the world view through his eyes. Unspoiled and without prejudice he experienced the world as one who has never seen, never experienced, never felt the sting of ridicule or sarcasm. He was a clean palette ready to be colored and painted according to the circumstances that befall him.
Before I wax too eloquent in praise of this movie, let me be clear; as is the main character quite child-like, so is this movie. Not childish, rather child-like รข?? not a bad thing... all while being delightful! I like this movie!
