Review of Blame It on Fidel! (2006) by Ahu A — 24 Apr 2009
A good film about the genesis of political awareness of a pre-teen Parisian girl Anna, (excellent acting by Nina Kervel-Bey), set in 1971, who is trapped between her upper class upbringing and the transition to middle class lifestyle while adjusting to the political views of her radical Marxist parents.
Clearly Jule Gavras has a point of view on Marxist philosophy but it also shows the dangers of imparting a monoculture on children; without different points of views, they choose what is convenient, that of their parents.
The movie also has it's funny moments! (Mickey Mouse is a fascist!).
