Review of Blair Witch (2016) by Daniel P — 17 Sep 2016
Initially acclaimed by the genre and film press prior to wide release, this follow up to the 1999 masterpiece then suddenly attracted a huge backlash with the general press. In truth, Blair Witch is largely a retread of the original - albeit that one that plays more heavily on established mythology and brings technology up to date.
Yet it is brilliantly made and designed, piling on the dread before a bravura, surreal end sequence set in an abandoned house.
