Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Judy M — 10 Oct 2017
Stellar, I think, in every way. I could harp on the absolute perfection that is the cinematography / framing, the camera movement / direction, the production design, the acting, the beautiful effects but what I really want to talk about is the themes presented.
This bit, I think, is where it most outruns its predecessor, which asked the question "If we can't tell the difference between human and AI, is there a difference at all?", this takes that for granted and looks more at the prisons we keep these AI in.
The essence of memory. Of duplication. Of disposability. God I'm in love with this film.
