Review of Blade Runner (1982) by Bryan S — 07 Mar 2013
Update: I've since watched the directors cut. I found that version a lot better. Leaving out the ending was much better for me. Each time I watch it, it grows on me more. so I've updated it from a 60 to an 80.
Being a big fan of Sci-Fi and Harrison Ford, I may have expected too much from this film. I found the dark atmosphere and setting were well done. The special effects were typical of the time. Well done but dated by todays standards. That has never stopped me from enjoying classics like Terminator and Aliens though. The film's story is a tough one to follow but I can manage to pull through having watched many an anime film with bizarre plots. What I didn't like was the unusual ending. Why does he let Deckard live? I don't buy the whole "He loved life so much" crap. It just seems like a cop out. The story and the scenary were enough to carry it for me through 90% of the movie. The ending though ruins it.
Not the classic that people make it out to be but a decent addition to the Sci-Fi genre.
