This film has been a long-standing entry on my list of "Classics I Have Ignored For No Reason"... and in my estimation, while the neo-dystopian world and immaculately shot city scenes are nigh-perfect (especially for 1982) the script is slapshod, and the characters are shrouded in so much mystery that they never really make that much of a-- oh who the hell cares about script details or character motivations - this is a classic simply because it's an amazing visual feast for the senses.

Harrison Ford bumbles around shooting people, Darryl Hannah and Rutger Hauer are seriously menacing (even if they're easy tags by the end), and the ending is a somewhat clever twist (that I admittedly had to log in to RT to figure out).

4/5 AND - the score is spot on. Classic status? Partially achieved, but it will definitely merit another before I can appreciate what the cultists hold to such acclaim.
