Review of Blade II (2002) by Rudy M — 29 Jul 2013
I watched Blade 2 immediately after the original movie. This one is more of the same, but more polished in every way. The movie's CGI does not look as dated as the original's and there's plenty of action and perfectly choreographed martial arts to please the audience.
Of course this one came after The Matrix, but the first Blade movie already had some of the elements that the Matrix milked perfectly.
Something that is noticeable from the start is that both writer David Goyer and director Guillermo del Toro added more humour into this movie. Sometimes it's a practical joke, sometimes well-timed genuinely funny lines of dialogue.
The story, which sees Blade in an unlikely alliance fighting a common enemy, is good enough for this kind of tongue-in-cheek vampire action movie. Wesley Snipes still manages to play his character to a T.
Pros: Production is more modern than the previous installment.
Cons: -.
Verdict: Go see!
