Review of Blade (1998) by Hunter P — 28 Jun 2012
Blade was one of my favorite Marvel movie. It took a step forward in how a vampire movie should play out. It was bloody and gory and nothing like marvel movies today. From the opening scene the vampires are being slain by Blade, a tribute to Night Of the Living Dead where the zombies attack from the opening scene.
It was ultraviolent like The Terminator or Robocop with extremely bloody special effects. It pays tribute to many classic hooror and action movies. Wesley Snipes looks and plays the part of Blade who had his mom bitten by a vampire before he was born.
He has all the strengths of a vampire and none of the weaknesses exept the thirst of blood if he dosn't inject himself with garlic. A hospital worker gets a burnt vampire and she gets bitten and is saved by Blade.
It's a violent movie and something different from Marvel. Like Spawn people don't like it for the computer affects but it's not like it distracts from the movie. It's only in the end scene and it was the late 90's so they didn't know how to use it well.
Something any blood hound should check out.
