Review of Blade (1998) by Josh K — 29 May 2013
The vampire is a tired one. There are good ones and yet there are bad ones. Than you get Blade. An amazing film which brings a comic book touch to the genre. The film is based on a MARVEL comic book character, who is half-human and half-vampire.
Wesley Snipes depicts Blade and brings a very cold performance to the role, while also proving that he was perfectly cast. The film focuses on Blade, who has to stop a dangerous vampire from trying to conquer the humans, while Blade also tries to find a way to cure himself of being a vampire.
The action in this film moves at an excellent pace, while Stephen Norrington's direction is superb. Stephen Dorff is perfectly cast in the role of Deacon Frost, the main villain, while Kris Kristofferson perfectly supports Wesley Snipes as Whistler, Blade's mentor.
The film's final fight scene is impressive, while the final scene is also well executed.
