Review of Blacula (1972) by Andrew S — 31 Jul 2008
When I saw "Blacula" for the first time, I was a kid and all I did was make fun of it with my friends. As an adult, I now have a new appreciation for this film. While not nearly as creative as "Sugar Hill" or as exciting as "Coffy", "Blacula" shares that same surprising quality of transcending the cheapness in the end to find the viewer genuinely gripped by the story.
This is a really sad and tragic movie, and the final scene is actually heartbreaking. I'm glad I decided to give it a second viewing.
