Review of Blacula (1972) by Brett B — 29 Apr 2012
You know what? This is a much better film than the silly title would indicate. William Marshall brings legitimate pathos and gravitas to his work, and his is a performance that would be top-flight in a straight drama, much less a schlocky horror flick.
The script (aside from an unfortunately goofy prologue sequence) is sharp and has a healthy sense of humor, and while the film does pretty much meander its way to the conclusion at the end the third act, it's a very solid production up to that point.
