Review of Blacula (1972) by Sailormoon797 F — 16 Sep 2010
I don't remember a lot of what I watched as a kid on the Saturday Shocker but I do Blacula. I was fortunate enough as a teenager to snag a poster of this when my favorite video store was having a give away.
Probably the best blaxploitation/horror movie out there aside of Zombies of Sugar Hill. William 'The King of Cartoon' Marshall adds a certain regalness to the role that is more then it deserves.
Thalmus Rasulala adds to the fun as sorta a African American Van Helsing..maybe Im thinking it's a little smarter then it is. It is funky though; I love the soundtrax. Classic fun blaxploitation. Sure to offend modern audiences especially homosexuals but how can you hate a movie that has flaming Afros?
