Review of Blackthorn (2011) by Edith N — 17 May 2012
This movie made me think of McCabe & Mrs Miller, a slow and dreamy "western" from the 1970s, pretentious, far too stylish for its own good. I thought I loved Sam Shepard, but maybe I only love him in smaller roles .
.. having him at the center of an entire movie, slow and lugubrious, is kind of like watching a movie starring Kris Kristofferson, and not just because of the beard. Still, there is plenty to like here: it's an interesting story, and the Bolivian scenery is gorgeous.
