Review of BlacKkKlansman (2018) by Lucia C — 09 Aug 2018
This movie pulls no punches. It goes to the heart of the matter: racism. If you've ever seen a Spike Lee movie you know that subtlety is not his forte. But that's okay because he has a lot to say and you only have a couple of hours to hear it and see it.
The intersection of recent history (the 70's), a true story, violent racism as a historical account and current (scary) events mesh satisfyingly well to deliver Lee's point of view. I saw it with a millennial for whom Lee was new and who didn't always understand historical references, but he was thoroughly moved by the movie.
And that sparked a lot of discussion afterwards. A movie cannot get better than that. Go see it if you dare!
