Review of Blackhat (2015) by Paul J — 18 Jan 2015
Just watched this movie, and as a computer programmer this movie hits it right on. Some of the plot involves simplified scripting so that lay people won't run screaming from the technical aspects, however, what was laid out in the film is correct.
Unlike transformers and other scifi movies and thrillers, this movie could happen. This movie is in the here and the now, and there are genius hackers out there that could do everything done in this film.
When you go to this film, realize that it serves not only as entertainment. In a way, it is a documentary into what really happens with advanced hackers. Real world hackers take weeks to do what Hathaway did in hours, but in the end, if you have enough time to write the scripts, once they start flowing you have the power.
Source: I am a senior getting a degree in computer science and have taken two cyber security classes that deal in exactly what this film does. Its a shame they don't mention kali linux :(.
