Review of Blackhat (2015) by S M — 17 Jan 2015
In Michael Mann's latest offering Blackhat, cyber crime is the issue at hand... Which despite the movie's realism and actual threat in real life, who cares??? Most won't, due to something I call IPhone syndrome.
.. Which basically can be summarized as despite the fact we live in the "Digital Age", most people don't get technology or understand it as much as they should. They want to press one button and have everything done for them without understanding the technology behind it.
.. Quite frankly that's a dangerous mindset... And is a large factor behind the enormous amount of identity theft and other cyber related crimes... And or that reason the main plot of the movie will be lost on people.
.. There's no real reason to invest 2 hours into the main characters or what is happening to them... That and the only known actor is Chris Hemsworth... The average person needs some known actors to connect to a movie.
.. That's not to say they need an Ocean's 11 cast, however films such as this with the cast it has comes off as a $70 million dollar episode of NCIS... Despite the film is well acted and masterfully shot its timely plot will be lost on most and is in the end the downfall of the film.
