Review of Blackhat (2015) by John Eric D — 02 Jun 2015
As a fan of the Action Thriller genre. I did dig this film. I thought, that was really not bad at all. I'm a Michael Mann fan since The Last of the Mohicans film. And this one did not really disappointed me.
In fact, this film is a good watch IMO. I really like the whole presentation, where for instance, focusing the parts of a computer chip on how the hack goes and presented in a way of a CGI. I mean that is so cool.
And I like the execution of this film. Even though I didn't really know who exactly are the SDU's or what RAT supposed to mean. But mainly, Mann knows how to execute a film that casual viewers could understand the whole plot.
And the gun fight sequences are fantastic. I love the sound of the guns firing all over, and the bullets passing through, bouncing off the wall. I mean another impressive job, and that's why I like how Mann authenticate everything in a gun fight scene.
Which reminds of his film "Heat". Speaking of flaws, there are some sub plots of this film which I didn't really care about. Which I thought made the film long, with uninteresting slow paced scenes.
Besides of its flaws, It is still a very good quality Michael Mann film. I enjoyed it, and this is a must have thriller. 4/5 stars.
