Review of Blackfish (2013) by Hollie W — 05 Jan 2016
The documentary Blackfish explains all the problems within Seaworld. I think that this documentary did a good job showing all the messed up things that go on behind the scenes at SeaWorld. This film was made in 2013 and they used former SeaWorld trainers to explain what really goes on. This documentary kind of went back and forth, it went from the former trainers explaining their views and then would tell stories about trainers would get killed or injured and what the court would rule and I think that really tied thing together and showed just how messed up SeaWorld really is. The former trainers and witnesses did a really good job talking and explaining all the things that they saw and witnessed.
The footage that they used from SeaWorld was a really good touch and added a sense of realness and was a good effect to the film. There were many shots of all the famous whales like Tilikum and Shamu which I think was a good thing to add into this documentary because it made us feel for the whales and become connected to them.
This film did a good job making us feel a connection and feel bad for these whales and would make me never want to give SeaWorld another cent.
