Review of Black Water (2008) by Jason J — 10 Jul 2010
3 people and their guide take a fishing trip in the mangrove swamps of Northern Australia but their boat is flipped over by a big saltwater crocodile. Their guide is killed whilst the 3 are stuck in a tree, all the while being stalked by the croc. Their only way out is to flip the boat over but how can they do that if the croc is watching their every move and ready to pounce if they come near the water?
This isn't too bad a movie. It's a gripping, realistic low budget movie and full of tension. Apparently the movie was based on a true story. The situation they were in was quite terrifying. I found it nerve wracking watching it because of the sheer helplessness of their situation and the constant threat to their survival by the clever crocodile. The three leads give convincing performances - you can smell the fear flowing from them. The crocodile special effects were also very well made. I thought Black Water was edge-of-your seat stuff. Worth checking out.
