Does Aronofsky do his best to cheaply thwart all of the viewers attempts at rationalizing an implausible film in an attempt to make an otherwise boring storyline interesting? Yes he does. Does his succeed? Debatable.
But does Aronofsky create one of the greatest psychological thrillers of all time out of a story about a stressed ballet dancer? Without question.
