Review of Black Swan (2010) by Nickolas I — 05 Mar 2013
Introduction.
The Black Swan was one of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen in my entire life. It is basically about a ballet dancer who gets taken over by the actual Black Swan Figure Odile. Throughout the movie she begins to lose her mind and go insane - so that she would do anything to have the lead role in Swan Lake.
Plot Summary.
The plot was definitely not predictable at all. Yes it is disturbing, but I will say it was a good movie. Most of the time as you're watching the movie it's hard to predict what will happen next because it seems pretty unreal for a story line like it.
Awards Won.
I believe Natalie Portman won an award for best actress of the year in the following film. I do believe that this award was suited for her because her acting skills were off the charts. She really makes her performance believable and real.
Themes.
I think this film was purely made to entertain. As I watched the movie I didn't think that there is or was any theme or purpose to it.
Technical Elements.
The visual appearance was very disturbing but I will say the camera work was magnificent. The angles changed so often which made the film more viewable in a way that you won't be so disturbed. I think the acting and storyline of the film is really what made it so hard to see on tv.
Conclusion.
If you are a person who isn't so sensitive when it comes to blood or disturbing sound effects then you'll probably enjoy this movie. For me, it wasn't a favorite because I'm super careful and sensitive when it comes to things so graphic.
