Review of Black Swan (2010) by Randy R — 26 Jul 2013
I don't like dance movies. I didn't like Step Up and the sequels that followed, Hated You Got Served, Bring It On is for young girls 13-24, and Dance Flick shouldn't have been made. With that said, when I saw the trailer for Black Swan, I was Hypnitized from the start.
And because it also has a supernatural element to it, I was drawn it right away. This is a true 21st century classic and brilliantly made film. All the performances were top notch, especially Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Vincent Cassel, And Barbara Hershey.
The film's score, while adapted from Swan Lake, has some parts where the music can go into a little bit of a original score mode before it goes into the adaptation again. It's really good and a real intense listen.
And as for the direction, Darren Arronofsky did a great job. The Best Movie of 2010. Nominated for 5 Academy Awards including Best Picture 2010 and Winner for Best Actress.
