Review of Black Snake Moan (2006) by Gary B — 18 Jan 2011
Samuel L.Jackson tries to save Christina Ricci from herself and damnation; ironic that the way he does it (chaining her scantily-clad hide up in his home) probably registers as fetish fuel for many a viewer.
Some stuff about childhood sexual abuse factors in, as does a malfunctioning Justin Timberlake. Something of a road to redemption piece, with SLJ providing some memorable blues numbers amidst the melodrama.
Nothing amazing overall, but well acted and worth a watch.
