Review of Black Snake Moan (2006) by Edward D — 29 Nov 2011

I don't think I've ever seen an actress have sex this many times in the first 20 or so minutes of a movie, ever... Ricci must've had sex with like ten guys over the course of one night, one of which was when she went and laid down on some grass and the guy just whipped it out in the middle of a girls guys shirtless football game and he did her right there in front of everyone but no body really cared... anyway enough with the sex stuff...

The movie intercuts Sammy J and Ricci through the first few minutes even though they haven't met up yet. Sammy J's wife left him...for his brother, and the first bit of the movie he's very angry about that but then Ricci of course becomes his distraction...

She gets beat up and dumped out on the road which just so happens to be the end of Sammy J's driveway so when he goes out to take out the garbage he looks over and sees a girl wearing very little laying out on the road and he runs over to get her. The rest of the movie is mostly a two man show with some side characters showing up but the main characters are without a doubt Jackson and Ricci, Timberlake is probably the most important supporting role because he has a lot to do with the plot despite the fact that he's only in the movie for twenty minutes or so. At first Ricci obviously thinks Jackson's a total weirdo when he chains her to the furnace in his living room but over the course of the movie she comes to love him, as a daughter would love a father, and it turns out her father wasn't the nicest guy so she didn't really ever have a father which is probably the reason she goes around screwing all the jerks in town.

The movies more about recovering from your past and moving on to having a normal, healthy future. Sure there's tits and *** for the first 20-30 mins and the rest of the movie there's still a lot of skin, but the movie really does hold onto its dignity and in the end, which the film has a moderately unhappy ending, you know that the characters will always have problems but instead of just doing whatever they feel like they'll help each other through these problems and move on with they're lives.

Overall the film isn't incredible. Craig Brewer did a pretty good job although I liked Hustle and Flow better than I liked this one, Samuel L. Jackson does a fantastic job giving a heartfelt performance while at the same time making you laugh your a** off. Ricci is great to, she really does seem like a total b***h and w***e through the first 20-30 minutes but as the movie goes on and you find out more and more about her you really start to feel sorry for her, and she becomes a likeable character twoards the end. Also I never considered her hot, but in this movie she's really really amazingly orgasmic, her body is pretty much perfect and you see almost all of it in this movie... decent story and message filled in with some awesome acting and good direction...its a pretty good movie, and a pretty unconventional one as well...
