Review of Black Sabbath (1963) by Jim P — 01 Nov 2008
One of the greatest, if not the greatest, horror anthology film. What Bava gives us is not another cheesy horror movie (although it admittedly has its cheesy moments), but a beautifully shot and executed piece of cinema.
His use of colors and framing are absolutely second to none, and the atmosphere is so thick you could cut it with a knife. The film builds with each successive story, culminating in a brilliantly creepy final chapter.
