Review of Black Rain (1989) by Marc F — 22 Oct 2007
Ever wanted to see Michael Douglas with a mullet? Me neither, but here he is.
Probably the best opening sequence to any film ever - don't know why, just is. When I bought this film on DVD, I only watched it about 5 times but I watched opening sequence about 20 times in a row every day for about 3 weeks. Don't know why, I just liked the look of it. If you watch it, you might not see anything special in it but I do. I think it's sublime and the best possible way to open a film like this. If I were to ever direct a film, I'd copy the opening sequence to this film every time even if the opening sequence to the film had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the film.
Obsessed? Absolutely. This film is great but the opening sequence is the greatest opening sequence in the history of cinema.
