Review of Black Pond (2011) by Karl A — 01 Jun 2013
An existential character study of an ordinary but dysfunctional family accused of murder when they bury a stranger's body. Haunting, beautiful, and quirky Black Pond is a solid and impressive debut which mixes the Art House with black humour with seamless excellence.
The strangeness of the premise and presentation is grounded thanks to the believable performances of the brilliant cast while comedian and ex-Buzzcocks host Simon Amstell gives a particularly hilarious turn as an insensitive psychotherapist.
