Review of Black Orpheus (1959) by Kevin T — 16 Apr 2009
The film is lively and vibrant visually, but there is no connection to any of the characters or story. Although it's great to look at, it is very difficult to become involved in the story when the vast majority of the film is spent on crowds dancing the samba.
The idea of re-telling a Greek myth in Rio deJaneiro is ambitous and creative, I just wish I was given a chance to involve myself and appreciate the story.
