Review of Black or White (2015) by Alex M — 11 Feb 2015
Whoever made the previews for this movie should probably be punched. This movie was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. My girlfriend is black so on the rare occasion hollywood decides to put some black people in a movie we go see it.
I expected another cookie cutter, finding common ground, ebony & ivory during the opening credits type movie, but this was not that. The characters are conflicted, costner is a drunk, the black guy you assume is being misjudged by the white guys is actually being accused correctly.
It was weird to watch honestly, I'm so used to everyone trying to pretend like the issue of race is simple, that seeing someone show the nature of race relations like this was pretty refreshing!
