Review of Black Narcissus (1947) by Owen C — 05 Jan 2010
Very good movie. I loved the scenes of the mountains of kathmandu, and the characters played their parts very well. The journey of a nun, how she came to be a nun and her mission thereafter. I was surprised to learn that in christanity, monks and nuns to renew their vows every year.
And that even after one may become a nun, one is not free of desire & dillusions, as shown by the other nun sister ruth who gets totally succumbed by it, and is unable to recognise her weakness. I thought that the story could have ended differently, maybe if the actions taken by sister clara were different, it wouldnt have resulted in the end that was potrayed.
