Review of Black Mass (2015) by Johanna R — 15 Oct 2015
As a long-time fan of both Johnny Depp and gangster movies, I expected this movie to truly impress me. Perhaps that led to my disappointment in the plot's flatline. While it was definitely the most serious intricate performance by Depp that I've seen, the movie itself was unimpressive.
It doesn't have impressive feats of territory battles, fire power, rags-to-riches, or character story that any gangster movie might deliver. As far as that genre goes, it was just a different gang, different day, same story.
Blah.
