Review of Black Mass (2015) by Tony B — 26 Mar 2016

Fairly bland, unexciting and kind of boring. The trailers looked intense and Bulger is one of the more interesting stories among the mob world but they managed to make this film seem rather plain. Depp performed well but it seemed they concentrated too much of the story on the other characters like his FBI informer who I thought wasn't a very good actor.

Also my main issue with Depp was that he does not look the part, his make up makes him look like a cartoon vampire rather than "Whitey" Bulger. Overall there were some well done scenes but even at two hours it felt like they didn't give us enough of Bulger's life in the film and basically this disappointed me.

The quality is there but just wasn't enough for me.
