This is the story of how James "Whitey" Bulger, with the active connivance of the FBI, rose from humble beginnings as an ordinary gang leader, to become the crime lord of Boston. Johnny Depp delivers a command performance as the evil, manipulative, master criminal who used his highly placed connections to play the system, and get away with terrible crimes, while law enforcement either looked the other way, or abetted his actions.
