Review of Black Gunn (1972) by Trent R — 07 Mar 2009
Martin Landau's early work as a heavy for brutes like Hitch really pays off here, if only his evil used car dealer got more screen time! Still, Jim Brown's non-acting is well supported enough to maintain interest until the payoff.
The fights are poorly blocked, but Brown moves with such conviction that they still entertain. Politically, this is a reactionary mess with some shallow role reversals obscuring a plot that actually has the Black Panther correlates joining up with a pair of integrated detectives to rescue Gunn.
