Review of Black Death (2010) by Alec B — 10 May 2011
It bears more of a resemblance to the original 'Wicker Man' from the 70s than the Niel LaBute remake did, and that is a very good thing. It has its share of over the top moments, but since the final half hour plays out completely differently than I expected I have to give the film a lot of credit.
Director Christopher Smith and screenwriter Dario Poloni have no love for religion in any form and their supposition than the natural product of blind faith is extreme violence is rather bold. The final moments end in absolute darkness with no hope .
. . and that is the mark of a good horror story.
