Review of Black Death (2010) by Melanie D — 01 Aug 2011
This was pretty average. The theme was worth considering -- how violence has the ability to corrupt even the noblest of intentions -- but the movie had a hard time deciding if it was a thoughtful morality tale or mere torture porn.
Sean Bean was pretty good, though. I once thought he was a bit of a one note actor, and admittedly, he's cast close to type here, but he really does have some good acting chops. He had a lot of good, subtle stuff buried underneath the somewhat obvious character of a religious zealot.
