Review of Black Coffee (2014) by Morgan B — 20 Mar 2015
I admit that I like to see black love. Robert (Darrin DeWitt) and Morgan (Gabrielle Dennis) had good chemistry but I guess when you have two attractive people in the lead role, the chemistry sort of happens. A point of concern was Julian's coffee business which was making him so much money that he could afford his own place. This was his real job and not a side job. He wore a suit and sold coffee in his house--not at a store. This must be the only coffee shop in town. Robert is also apparently a robot. He lacks real emotion. He loses his job and loses his girlfriend to his boss--on the same day. But why should he worry, this isn't real life. His ex girlfriend, comes to beg for "forgiveness" at some point in the movie--but only because she needs a place to stay. Robert is willing to let her move in. Why? He also quickly rushes into a relationship with the beautiful Morgan. He has apparently done that which most of us can not do very quickly--or at least not the very next day. He has moved on. When did he find the time to quickly re-assess his life, blame the world for his problems and/or briefly hate women? In the end, everything works out for everyone. Morgan and Robert are pregnant and of course, Robert isn't broke anymore.
It's not an original story but it could have been re told in a more masterful way. Color quality and sound were good which is something that is usually lacking in low budget films.
