Review of Black Christmas (2006) by Monty H — 17 Dec 2012
I was really looking forward to this film. I saw the original a long time ago and it was pretty good. This remake did not deliver. A young demented man kills his own mother in their house and is committed to an asylum.
Cut to years later and said house is home to a girls sorority. Set during Christmas, the young man named Billy escapes and heads home to bring some holiday cheer to the unfortunate girls. Now you would think a house full of young pretty girls being chased by a maniac would make for something entertaining.
NOT! I mean some of the girls are so stupid that you cringe every time they say or do something. One of my fave actresses Mary Elizabeth Winstead is wasted in this movie. Her death scene is not even shown, you just see the blood.
And newcomer Jessica Harmon who has a good opening scene is promptly disposed of. This movie just never clicks as a horror flick should.
