Review of Black Book (2006) by Will C — 01 Jun 2008
Verhoeven tones it down for a more serious and personal project although, perversely, it could perhaps have done with a little more of his trademark excess to really make the horror of the situation come to life.
As an arthouse film it doesn't match up to his pre-Hollywood work either, but is still a worthy tale.
