Review of Black Book (2006) by Joe H — 05 Mar 2013
Despite its gratuitous excesses, the film feels dull, restrained, and muffled, probably by a lack of interesting characters, shallow melodrama, uneven pacing, and a dull third act. The heroine of the story is the only one who receives any kind of meaningful development, and it is only van Houten's performance that's worth remembering about this otherwise utterly forgettable film.
