Review of Black Book (2006) by Melissa H — 25 Jun 2009
Oh the things one must do to survive during the war. Such a tragic time in history but the personal stories behind it all are so fascinating, especially for women. She had to turn her back on what she knew and loved to survive, betraying her culture and past and getting heavily caught up in what she was involved in.
The film was scandalous, shocking, disturbing, sexy, sad and reflective. You could see the pain she was going through, she was a smart woman but went through more than she deserved...of course others had it worse than her.
There were many unfortunate events that occurred within in the film that made you sick inside, the film was so fast paced & uncensored as well which made it more believable & caused you to be sitting up the whole time.
This film was brilliantly made and really stretched the usual amount of human emotion that one goes through while watching a film like this. It had a bitter sweet conclusion that ultimately left me saying "I hate war.
" She lost loves from her old and new world only left with poignant memories that never cease to haunt her and leave her with a heavy amount of guilt. She betrayed and was betrayed, like the man said earlier in the film.
.."You can never trust anyone.".
