Review of Black Book (2006) by Andrew S — 21 Aug 2009
I remember this played years ago at the Bermuda International Film Festival and I never got the chance to see it. But than I spotted it in the rental store. YAY me. I really enjoyed this film. Carice van Houten was amazing.
Why was there no oscar nomination once again the academy fails at life. I found the film to have genuine intrigue, suspense, and it was full of deception. Half of the traitors I never realized or even suspected they were.
Ellis makes for a complex and interesting hero figure as well. One of the more character driven and story heavy war films about the Nazi era. Perhaps one of the best.
