Review of Biutiful (2010) by Dustin W — 06 Jul 2011
I'm not totally sure how to rate this movie. At times it was revolting and at times it was quite amazing. I've come up with some "D" words that I think describe the movie quite well: Depravity, Despair, and Decision consequences.
The movie vaguely reminds me of Requiem for a Dream. They both draw the audience into a world in which they do not have first hand experience (nor would they want to), however the level of cinematography in Requiem for a Dream was far superior.
If you have a tough stomach and are able to withstand the visual onslaught of this movie, it definitely provides some perspective on situations removed from our everyday experiences.
