Like the story told throughout to Hugh Grant in Bitter Moon, hugely wild and bizarre, you cant help but find yourself being intrigued to see it through to the finale. Its Ying and Yang qualities make for an odd, enthralling and hilarious watch sometimes for the good, sometimes not so much.

Although the idea of the film is a strong one, 2 differing couples with a struggling relationship, craving off each other in some form of weird sex game, the script doesnt quite follow it up, laughably bad in places.

Polanski does a good job of holding our attention though and minus a few pacing issues in the 2nd act, the film has enough wild touches that make it a notable addition to the masters repetoir. Kristin Scott Thomas, as usual is a joy to watch but shes given so little to do here it feels like a wasted talent, on the other hand Hugh Grant himself, manages to hold the film together, despite moments of clearly clunky dialogue.

It is a long film and feels like one but the pay off is rewarding enough and if your looking for a film to kill a couple of hours, then this black comedic, erotic, thriller might just be ample entertainment for you.
