Review of Bitter Moon (1992) by Ollie W — 22 Jul 2011
Unashamedly excessive and cruel, Polanksi's wonderfully cynical deconstruction of jealousy, sexuality and love is so completely uncomfortable and brutal that at times its almost unwatchable. Fortunately the nasty comings and goings of Peter Coyote and Emmanuelle Seigner's broken and abusive relationship is peppered with such a heavy dose of utterly black humor and some hilariously memorable scenes, (little Piggy!) one can frequently find respite in the grim comic relief from the all consuming, unforgiving darkness.
