Review of Bitter Moon (1992) by Volo M — 01 Jan 2012
Relies a bit too heavily on the supposed tensity of sexual games and sadism. Yes, this is an interesting and seemingly honest attempt to illustrate the forbidden themes, but the plot, script and filming just don't stretch well to over two hours. Surprisingly enough, Vangelis' score doesn't do the trick either.
Oscar and Mimi's relationship would have been interesting enough without the whole cruise setting. It is one of the most interesting relationships of the films I've seen, but with a bit too prolonged scenes. Ok: refreshing, inspiring, warning.
