Review of Bitter Harvest (2017) by T T — 14 Mar 2017
After reading through the audience reviews, I'm stunned. So many of these 'reviewers' acclaim the 'historical authenticity' of the film. Anyone with even a fractional knowledge of what actually took place in the USSR from 1920-1953 would recognize the historical vacancy of this film.
There were several of Stalin's own propaganda films more historically accurate than this. This was nothing more than a ham-handed attempt to produce a "Dr. Zhivago-like" historical romance, founded on one of the most obscene holocausts in human history, while carefully avoiding depicting any of the horrors inflicted on the Ukrainian people by Stalin.
(Incredible that so many of these people are allowed to vote!).
