At turns, this is a paroday, a homage, and a violent, tiring mish-mash of many elements of B-movie trash that many people just love and, of course, the short list of those influential film makers includes Russ Meyer, Roger Corman and nowadays Quentin Tarantino.

To Tarantino's credit he is famous for taking disparate influences, giving credit where credit is due, and paying tribute to those influences in his stories and films. Having said all that if you like violent cat-fight movies and burn and slash - shoot 'em up mayhem and really love those old "Switchblade Sister" style movies.

.. Then this movie is for you. If you are a film lover and somehow Tarantino got on your short list of favorite directors and you are not into all of the above -- then stay away from this - you will hate it.

I must admit that the only real acting discernable that was going on was from Julia Voth, and she is really super-sexy like a dishy young Ava Gardner. "Kinki" played by Minae Noji is also kind of notable for her stage presence and unique voice.

If you catch the end credits you'll hear her rant and croon the song while credits roll. The opening montage above title was really great and unfortunately did not portend brilliant things to come.

Whoever put that montage together could really make a great documentary film or art film of his or her own based on how great that was. I wish I could mention this person's name. Anyways if you really want to see a great girl on girl film "Whip It" should be the one you should rent or do what Tarantino did rent "Switchblade Sisters" and all of those other great B movies that used to get shown in theaters before Spielberg and before the word Blockbuster was known in the parlance of our times.

Also, there used to be a whole OTHER kind of B movie that never gets emulated, do you remember movies like "Blacula" and "Frankenstien Vs. Dracula' ??? Or "It Came From Outer Space" hehehe You see, Tarantino was never into those kinds of B movies.
